Abstract
Objective: This study was to determine the clinical usefulness of test-retest correlation coefficient of auditory steady state responses (ASSRs).

Method: Data were obtained from 24 ears with normal hearing and 20 ears with sensorineural hearing loss. The modulation frequency varied from 82 to 99 Hz and the carrier frequencies were 500, 1000, 2000 and 4000 Hz. All procedures for measuring ASSRs were repeated within 2 weeks.

Results: First, ASSRs between test and retest were highly correlated at most test frequency for both the normal hearing and sensorineural hearing impaird groups. Second, The correlation coefficient was highest at 2000 Hz for both groups.

Conclusion: The results suggest that ASSRs can be applied to estimate hearing thresholds with reliable accuracy in sensorineural hearing impairments.
